"LEGAL" racing?

SeventhHeaven SG · 2004-11-12T12:09:45+00:00

I think you are right that we should also have a place for motorsports. If there are proper place, the safety aspect will be taken care of. All street race...

Hi all… I am new to this Forum… and fairly new to Singapore… can anybody advise me if there is any “LEGAL” car racing event in Singapore? On-road, Off-road or near Singapore?

Some car clubs who book the entire track might organise a small drag competition for the fun of it…

I think the sg gov SHOULD build a race track in sg... be it big or small...

at least its better than building casinos..

and sum more dey wanto increase the number of tourists visiting sg...
dis race track can really boost tourism in sg... i guess there are more car enthusiasts than gamblers in the world...

i speak on behalf of the ppl in sgforums who are really desperate to see rare cars.. Mr. Green

Dear PM Lee,

gambling -> social problems
racing -> social cohesion

legal racing??? think it'll b in the stadium on the running track! or rather some stores out there with tamiya tracks Mr. Green

SeventhHeaven SG

TOTALLY Agree... Instead of just saying "No" "No"... Educate us and those who drive like s*it by providing the space & oppotunity to learn!!! Suspending all "Legal" racing in Singapore may not be the best way... If we loose those oppotunities... we all know what's gonna happen... I mean.. where else do we enjoy driving other than on a street... (I don't mean to encourage those street racing, but we can only drive either on a street or "Legal" racing event.. or in our imagination... or on PS2!!) Racing does not always mean "speed"... could be technique.. manner... safety... Like you said.. could be the big attaction in Singapore!!

BTW.. I'd like to see all those rare & unique cars too!! Very Happy

Singapore is bit small.. so it may look like Tamiya tracks from the sky Very Happy

Last time I heard… SMSA was proposing to modify the streets at Marina South… to create a racing circuit… think it’s still in the talks…

[email protected] SG

SMSA always proposing a lot of things ah... but... what do u actually see happen? Mr. Green

LH83 SG

Hehe... true ah... but I kinda remember this one cos they reported it in the news... even showed graphics on what it would look like... hee....

Guess we shouldn't hold our breaths for it... Mr. Green

nope we shouldn't. All I want to say to them is: surprise us.

kidmccoy SG

didnt they use to have a race track like ages ages ago? watever happened to that? turned into more flats?

i agree casinos are pretty bad places to be, but it does generate more revenue than a race track
maybe can be like macau and have both , at least there'll be something fun to do

silversurfer_41 SG

Well i'm a newbie here but i wud like 2 share my views...

Y not transform sentosa into a race track? would b better than a casino or musical fountain or some crap like dat... at least pple can test out deir skills rather than sit down dere & lose $$$...

And oh... 2 b fair, build a small practice place 4 P-platers as well. Can ar... one side slow, the other side fast fast liao...

TwinTurbo_Supra SG

cant lah... we need a major tourist attraction... since there are so many other islands arnd sg... y not convert it to a stadium wif a race track? it wud be very cool having a race track on an island alone...

silversurfer_41 SG

dats true... but so far if u were 2 find an island as big as sentosa... the closest would b pulau hantu... not counting ubin la... coz all i noe the other islands in sg r very small... furthermore if want to transfer ur ride 2 dat island very leceh one... mus take boat... no causewae... lol

btw y nyp campus so big ar??? cannot make circuit dere ar?? den nyp sure alot of racers!

if it’s big land we’re talking about… Marina South is purrrrrrfect.

silversurfer_41 SG

YEAH!!!!!!! I second to dat!
